Sha Sha’s recently released album, I’M Alive, is earning global praise, helping establish the Queen of Amapiano as a growing force on the international music scene. And, to add to the global momentum around her latest album, Sha Sha is featured on an enormous Spotify billboard in New York City’s Times Square that sees her claim her space as one of the most exciting young artists working in music today.

In its NME Radar: Breakout feature, the iconic UK music publication, NME, pointed to “the pioneering African artist’s boundless and free-flowing debut album proves that she possesses a riveting star quality”.

In an article written by Cora-Jane Jordan, the publication was full of praise for a powerhouse artist that is currently dominating the genre”. “Dubbed the ‘queen of Amapiano’ by a growing global fanbase, the 28-year-old’s voice features on just about every major contemporary Amapiano track; from collaborations with South African industry figures DJ Maphorisa to Kabza De Small, Sha Sha is truly commanding her space in the field,” said NME.

Sha Sha has also earned coverage in PAM – Pan African Music – an online music magazine, available in both French and English, dedicated to promoting music from the African continent and diaspora.

In a September 12th article titled Sha Sha’s all about resilience, Adélaïde Robert described Sha Sha as “always thinking about the next thing”. “Sitting in her hotel room in London, her first time there, she’s convinced she must continue pursuing her career outside Amapiano’s birthplace.”

A highlight has been a feature in gal-dem – a new media publication that addresses inequality and misrepresentation in the industry. Cici Peng writes that “On I’M Alive, Sha Sha takes us on a joyride of sounds, weaving through numerous lanes with her hands firmly on the wheel”.
