Bokani Dyer is set to take his music around the world with a new run of international tour dates.
The South African pianist and composer will perform across the United States, Europe, Australia and South Africa. The tour will feature a mix of solo performances and trio shows.
The run begins in Washington, D.C., where Dyer will perform at the DC Jazz Festival on 5 September. He will then head to California for shows in Los Angeles, Paso Robles, San Jose and Monterey. His Monterey date forms part of the Monterey Jazz Festival on 27 September.
From there, Dyer heads to Europe for a series of performances. He will play two nights at Bird’s Eye Jazz Club in Basel on 29 and 30 September. He will then visit Italy, the Czech Republic and Germany before returning to London for a performance at the iconic Ronnie Scott’s on 6 October.
The European run continues with a show at A-trane in Berlin on 8 October.
In October, Dyer will travel to Australia for the Melbourne Jazz Festival. He will perform at Birregura on 21 October before appearing at The Jazz Lab in Melbourne on 22 October.
The tour will also return home to South Africa. Dyer will perform at Track by Track in Braamfontein on 3 November as part of Mamakashaka & Friends.
The new tour arrives during an exciting period for Dyer. He is currently working towards a forthcoming album, which will introduce another chapter in his evolving approach to jazz and contemporary African music.
Following his acclaimed work with his US-based trio, the new dates offer audiences different ways to experience Dyer’s music. Some performances will centre on his solo work, while others will bring his trio sound to stages around the world.
With major jazz festivals and celebrated venues across the itinerary, Dyer’s latest tour reflects his growing international presence while keeping his music rooted in South Africa.
