South African pianist and composer Bokani Dyer will make his LA Jazz in the Park debut on Saturday, 8 August, performing at Lark Park in Los Angeles.
Dyer joins an exciting programme alongside the David Binney Action Trio and The Shea Welsh Blues Band. The performance forms part of the inaugural LA Jazz Festival, a citywide celebration of jazz that also features international stars including John Legend, Janelle Monáe, Raphael Saadiq, Ezra Collective, Nubya Garcia, and Terrace Martin across its wider programme.
The performance marks another international milestone for Dyer. It follows a successful run of shows across the United States with his trio, where he introduced new music while reconnecting with audiences in cities including New York, Philadelphia, Austin, and Minneapolis.
Known for blending jazz with African musical traditions, Dyer continues to earn recognition as one of South Africa’s leading contemporary jazz musicians. His performances combine technical brilliance with emotional depth, creating a sound that feels both innovative and deeply rooted.
The LA Jazz in the Park appearance offers West Coast audiences the chance to experience Dyer’s music in an open-air setting while celebrating one of the world’s newest major jazz festivals.
