“When Gqom king DJ Lag drops his bass-heavy beats, the earth trembles,” said Dekmantel Festival when DJ Lag made his appearance at one of the world’s leading electronic music festivals in Amsterdam in August.
And now, as a show of the festival’s love for what it called the “South African pioneer”, Dekmantel has posted DJ Lag’s full 90 minute set as part of its festival recap, making it available for all to hear!
DJ Lag played The Nest, Dekmantel’s brand new stage for groundbreaking sounds in the massive Amsterdamse Bos which provides the forest-like setting for the festival. A cutting edge affair, the festival annually curates the most creative and influential acts in house, techno and more – mixing a classic outdoor festival with top quality music.
DJ Lag embodied this with his epic set that began with a powerful reference to Hugh Masekela’s iconic 1974 song “Stimela” and kept the crowd captivated for the next hour-and-a-half with one of the best sets of Dekmantel 2022.
