Manthe Ribane talks about taking it the origins of storytelling in The Plug cover story

Manthe Ribane is on the cover of The Plug with fellow creative Tony Gum, as part of the magazine’s partnership with Multichoice to showcase its Origins campaign.

A celebration of African stories, the campaign is based around a series of short films – and The Plug article, written by Mercia Tucker, delves deeper into Manthe’s story of becoming a performer, musician and creative director.

“I’m still hungry for new ideas, new information,” she says in the interview. “Just keeping an open ear and an open heart.”

The feature sees Manthe talk about the influence of grandmother along with her younger siblings, Tebogo and Kay Kay, with whom she formed Dear Ribane. It also delves into Mathe’s role as a creative director on projects like Arte Botanica, a celebration of imagination and inventiveness that she co-curated a few years ago.
