DJ Lag is taking Gqom to one of the world’s biggest gaming franchises. His track “Shay’sana”, featuring Kamo Mphela and Robot Boii, has been selected for the soundtrack of Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI).
The song will feature on AfroBank FM, a new in-game radio station dedicated to African music. The station will bring together sounds from South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana and beyond. Nigerian artist Burna Boy will also co-host the station alongside DJ and producer Jay Donaldson.

DJ Lag is taking South African Gqom to one of the world’s biggest gaming franchises. His track “Shay’sana”, featuring Kamo Mphela and Robot Boii, will feature in Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI).
The song will play on AfroBank FM, a new in-game radio station focused on African music. The station brings together sounds from South Africa, Nigeria and Ghana. It will also feature Nigerian artist Burna Boy as co-host, alongside DJ and producer Jay Donaldson.
South African Music Takes the Global Stage
“Shay’sana” is one of the first three songs announced for AfroBank FM. It also marks the first time a South African song will feature in the Grand Theft Auto series.
This is a major moment for DJ Lag and South African Gqom. The Durban-born producer has helped take the sound from local dance floors to clubs and festivals around the world. Now, his music will reach an even wider audience through one of gaming’s biggest franchises.
The collaboration with Kamo Mphela and Robot Boii brings three South African artists together on the track. Their sound will also sit alongside Amapiano, African classics, 3-step and other sounds from across the continent.
DJ Lag Joins the GTA VI Soundtrack
Rockstar has started revealing the music featured in GTA VI. Alongside “Shay’sana”, the first announcements include songs by Nigerian artist Asake and Ghanaian legends Pat Thomas and Ebo Taylor.
AfroBank FM gives African music its own space in the game. As a result, players around the world will have the chance to discover more music from the continent while exploring the game.
Grand Theft Auto VI is set to launch on 19 November 2026. With “Shay’sana” on AfroBank FM, DJ Lag is bringing the sound of Durban Gqom to a global gaming audience.
