Bokani Dyer has added six new dates to his Traditions album tour, bringing his new project to audiences across South Africa and Mozambique from October to November. The dates follow the release of Traditions on 1 October and form part of a wider run of international performances.
Dyer will bring his South African trio to the Maputo Fast Forward Festival in Mozambique on 30 October. He will then return to South Africa for a run of performances in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban.
Traditions Live
The South African run begins at Trade Bar & Social in Cape Town on 1 November. Dyer will then perform at Black Labone on 5 November, followed by a show at The Chairman in Durban on 7 November.
The trio will return to Johannesburg on 13 November for the Traditions album launch as part of the Sankayi Jazz series in Sandton. The run continues with Track by Track on 19 November, featuring Bokani Dyer for a post-album release launch.
These dates follow Dyer’s international Traditions tour, which has taken him to venues and festivals including the DC Jazz Festival, Sam First in Los Angeles, Monterey Jazz Festival, Bird’s Eye Jazz Club in Basel and Ronnie Scott’s in London.
Across these performances, Dyer continues to explore the music from Traditions with his South African trio. The shows bring his reimagining of South African musical traditions to audiences at home and abroad.
