The 29th edition of the SAMAs, recognised as the most significant celebration of musical talent in South Africa, took place this past weekend, showcasing the best in the nation’s diverse and dynamic music scene in the past year. DJ Lag stood out as an exemplary representation of Gqom’s evolution and influence among a formidable line-up of nominees in the Best Gqom Album category, namely Sizwe Mdlalose, Cairo CPT, DJ Sandiso & Newlandz Finest, all of whom contributed exceptionally to the genre.
