Watch: Bongeziwe Mabandla’s New “Kude” Video

Bongeziwe Mabandla has released new visuals for “Kude”, alongside a live version of the song from his latest album, Ndingubani. The releases offer a closer look at one of the album’s most personal songs.

Filmed at Bongeziwe’s childhood home, the visuals connect the song to the place where his journey began. They also reflect on the experiences that have shaped him and how far he has come.

The Story Behind “Kude”

“Kude” reflects on a difficult period in Bongeziwe’s life. A cancer scare forced him to face his own mortality and the uncertainty of being human. However, the song looks beyond fear.

Instead, it serves as a reminder that things can work out. It also reflects on the distance he has travelled since that time, both personally and creatively.

By filming the visuals at his childhood home, Bongeziwe brings this reflection back to his roots. The setting adds a personal layer to the song and connects his past with the person he is today.

Continuing the Ndingubani Journey

Released in June 2026, Ndingubani explores identity, healing, memory and self-discovery. Since its release, the album has reached new audiences through performances at home and abroad. Some of its songs have also featured in The Polygamist, one of the continent’s major television productions.

The new “Kude” visuals and live version continue this journey. They give listeners another way to connect with the album and the stories behind its songs.
