This year’s Feather Awards was a dazzling affair that saw Bongeziwe Mabandla crowned Musician of the Year.
Africa’s biggest award ceremony, celebrating all who support, inspire and empower the LGBTI+ community, took place in Johannesburg on November 9th and it was an evening to remember for everyone who was there.
“I cannot tell you the happiness this brought me,” shared Bongeziwe.
A highlight for both Bongeziwe and the audience was the awarding of the Simon Nkoli Award to Thandiswa Mazwai. The award is named for Simon Tseko Nkoli, a gay activist and anti-apartheid leader who fought for freedom and social justice in South Africa.
“I love you King Tha, and I was so thankful to have been able to celebrat with you.” added Bongeziwe.
