ANNOUNCES COLLABORATIONS AND RECORDINGS IN EACH TERRITORY FOR MONTHLY RELEASES THROUGHOUT 2023
DJ Lag’s reputation as a one-of-a-kind pioneer continues with the just announced Alpha-Zulu tour that is set to take the globally acclaimed artist to every continent in the world during 2023.
Getting underway in Bangalore, India on February 17th, and with more than a dozen shows already confirmed across India, Africa, Europe and North America, DJ Lag’s Alpha-Zulu tour will continually evolve and expand during 2023.
In exciting news for music fans everywhere, DJ Lag will also collaborate and record with local artists in every territory that he visits during the tour. What will emerge from this is a series of releases – via Black Major and Platoon – that will significantly extend the boundaries of his already singular musical exploration. The first track is expected to be released soon after DJ Lag’s last date in India where he will go into the studio with local producers to create new, distinctive beats.
“Alpha-Zulu (A-Z) represents something that goes from start to finish and this tour is about performing, collaborating and recording on every continent,” says DJ Lag. “I want to blend genres and create new sounds along the way. It is going to be about exploring and experimenting on stages and studios from Mumbai to Miami to Accra and many more in-between. There is a lot I am looking forward to on this tour, including outside the music! Like finding the best barber in the world!”
With an ambition to take his music to as many different countries and cities during the coming months, DJ Lag is once again signaling his willingness to be a leader in representing, sharing and building Africa’s music globally. In many ways the Alpha-Zulu tour represents nothing less than a creatively innovative moment to cross over and dissolve the boundaries of origin – and to continue progressing music beyond the edges of the new electronic sphere.
The Alpha-Zulu tour comes on the back of an incredible 2022 in which DJ Lag continued his ascendency to the heights of the global electronic scene and released his debut album, Meeting With The King. Among the acclaim for DJ Lag’s debut was being featured in Resident Advisor’s The Best Albums of 2022 list, and “Raptor”, a collaboration with Sinjin Hawke, being named one of Clash Magazine’s Summer 2022 Essential 10 tracks. In addition to the uniformly positive critical reception for his debut, “Where’s Your Father?”, his November single with QUE DJ, was selected as the number one track of WIRE magazine’s Critical Beats. This past year saw DJ Lag featured in two landmark music books – DJ Mag’s 100 of the World’s Best DJs and Resident Advisor’s Sacred Spaces – and his many live performances in Europe, the UK, North America and South Africa included an appearance at The Nest, Dekmantel’s brand new stage for groundbreaking sounds.
DJ Lag fans should keep an eye on his social media platforms for updated announcements of Alpha-Zulu tour dates – with many more to be added over the coming months – and details of territory-specific releases.
