Immerse yourself in the sounds of Bongeziwe Mabandla and DJ Lag with Spatial Audio

Fans of Bongeziwe Mabandla and DJ Lag can now truly immerse themselves in the music of these two South African artists with Apple Music’s Spatial Audio.

According to Apple, presenting songs in Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos “gives artists the opportunity to create immersive audio experiences for their fans with true multidimensional sound and clarity”.

This now puts fans of Bongeziwe and DJ Lag right in the heart of the music from their favourite artists and get an even better experience of “iimini” and “Meeting With The King”.

Released in 2020, Bongeziwe’s “iimini” has earned unstinting critical acclaim and has expanded his already significant fanbase. In a review by Rofhiwa Maneta on the album’s release, New Frame described this beautiful album as “a 12-track exploration of love, its animating power, limitations and its inevitable end” that “maps out the lifeline of a relationship over folksy guitar riffs, pulsing synth lines and restrained percussion”.
“Meeting With The King” is the first full-length record by DJ Lag, released in February this year. Resident Advisor pretty much summed up this incredible album in its review: “His debut album is called Meeting With The King, and that doesn’t feel like a boast or exaggeration. The 80-minute, 15-track album is the equivalent of holding court, with the Durban artist inviting movers and shakers from all over South Africa—not only in gqom, but amapiano, house and other regional styles—to work with him on the heaviest, most romantic and most forward-thinking music he’s ever made. Even as his popularity spreads across the globe, on his debut album, DJ Lag fixes his gaze on his home country, painting a vibrant portrait of one of the world’s best and most creative dance music scenes.”
