Sha Sha is one of the nominees at SAMA 29 with her album I’m Alive snagging a nomination in the Rest of Africa category.
On hearing the news the Zimbabwean singer and songwriter gave thanks to everyone who “collaborated, composed, wrote, produced, recorded and featured” on the album as well as those who supported, released and promoted it.
“To say it has been a journey is an understatement,” said Sha Sha.
“I fought hard to get this project out (to fans). I had to name the album I’m Alive because the challenges I faced in those 24 months of making it are a testament to resilience, giving it my all and believing that on the side of that there was a loving audience ready to receive it – from Zimbabwe, my home, to South Africa, which I’ve grown to love and to the rest of the world.”
Sha Sha also revealed that new music was on the way. “I am excited for the next chapter and it feels good to close ‘I’m Alive’ with this nomination.”
Sha Sha’s I’m Alive weaves Afrobeats and R&B into Amapiano and features Ami Faku, Rowlene, A-Reece, Soa Mattrix Kabza De Small, and DJ Maphorisa, among many collaborators.
