DJ Lag continues to push the boundaries of genre and geography. Currently in the midst of an expansive world tour with stops at EDC Las Vegas, MTN Bushfire, and Ultra South Africa, he’s not just leading the movement — he’s redefining it on a global scale.
Now, DJ Lag returns with ‘Woza’, a hard-hitting new single that sees him dive headfirst into the rising sound of 3-Step. Featuring powerhouse collaborators Sykes and Sir Trill, the track marks yet another evolution in Lag’s ever-shifting sonic journey — one that’s seen him explore new textures alongside pioneers like Thakzin.
Driven by Lag’s unmistakable rhythmic signature, Woza blends Afro Tech-inspired basslines with bold vocal performances. Sir Trill brings raw, emotional urgency to the track, while Sykes floats above with airy, almost ghostlike melodies — a contrast that hits hard and lingers even harder.
In Lag’s words: “ I was playing some back-to-back sets with Thakzin…trying to imagine my take on the sound while also drawing inspiration from the Afro-Tech joints I’ve been incorporating in my live sets these past few years. It flowed naturally from there, and we were blessed with Sir Trill and Sykes landing their magic on vocals.”
While Woza is firmly rooted in the powerful pulse of Gqom, it boldly ventures into new territory — a powerful reminder of DJ Lag’s constant reinvention. With upcoming shows at DC10 (Ibiza), Rush Festival (France), Open Ground (Germany), Glastonbury, and Fabric (UK), he continues to carry the sound of South Africa to the world’s most iconic stages.
