DJ Lag’s debut full length album Meeting with the King has been nominated in the Best Gqom Album category at the upcoming South African Music Awards (SAMAs), set to take place at the Durban International Convention Centre on 17th and 18th November.
“It means so much to me to have this acknowledgement here at home and I feel very ready for this,” said DJ Lag.
“We started gqom with hardly working laptops, FruityLoops and tiny speakers in our bedrooms in Clermont. I am grateful to everyone who jumped on the record and also to my team for pushing since day one.”Since its release, Meeting With The King has earned DJ Lag global acclaim, including being featured in Resident Advisor’s Best Albums list, and has helped propel the Clermont-based DJ onto international stages through his ongoing Alpha-Zulu World Tour.
