DJ Lag steps into global spotlight once more on Goon Club Allstars & Friends Volume 1

The second half of 2021 sees DJ Lag step into the global spotlight once more – this time as one of four artists featured on a new release by the London-based record label and collective Goon Club.

Releasing on August 27th, Goon Club Allstars & Friends Volume 1 is the 13th release from the Goon Club Allstars and their first 4 track various artists sampler.

The sampler showcases the width and breadth of the label’s taste in different rhythmical club forms. DJ Lag’s return to the label is with a rawkus clubtool created with London in mind. “London Riot” is an unrelenting assault of bass, snares and chants, a winning formula DJ Lag has honed across many years of touring the globe.

The sampler also features tracks by Afro-Portuguese artist, Nídia (“Melodie Glaçe”) and Danish duo Circuit 900 (“Midori”) as well as label boss Kamran’s (fka Moleskin) Iranian grime instrumental “Tombak Track”.

DJ Lag’s inclusion in this prestigious sampler comes as he’s about to release his album. Widely acknowledged as a pivotal artist in the innovation and dissemination of Gqom, DJ Lag’s first full-length record keeps faithful to the idea of experimentation in the underground on a thrilling set of new songs that present the sound of Gqom 2.0.

Earlier this year DJ Lag showcased his diverse musical skills with a club-ready remix of ‘Ndiyakuthanda’, the critically acclaimed track from fellow award-winning South African artist Bongeziwe Mabandla.
