Sibot’s reputation as an internationally recognised soundscape artist is growing with news that he has produced the music for the new adidas Originals global campaign.
Titled Original is never finished, the campaign features the likes of Dua Lipa, A$AP Ferg, Playboi Carti, Kaytranada and Nick Young in a video clip that premiered on 25th January. Sibot’s remix of “Keep Pushin’” by Tujamo ft. Inaya Day is a collaboration with audio house Human, featuring vocals by Moonchild Sanelly. The track perfectly propels the Manu Cossu-directed video that is driving the global campaign.
“Out of repetition, comes variation,” says adidas of the campaign. “Out of variation, comes iteration. Out of iteration, comes creation. Uniting some of the world’s most influential creators, our latest film presents a new definition of originality by building upon what came before to create what will come next.”
The adidas campaign is the latest in a slate of creative projects that Sibot has lined-up for this year. In March, he collaborates with Kenyan producer Blinky Bill for a special appearance at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival. The two will be taking audience members on a journey in their Afrofunk Spaceship at this globally renowned event.
Late 2017 also saw a re-release of Sibot’s in with the old in celebration of the album’s 10th anniversary. An ode to glitch-hop blended with Sibot’s signature dark and driven bass, the album was far ahead of its time and the sound remains as relevant today as it was when the producer made the album.
